2027 NHL Draft Prospect Report – Aden Bouchard (LD)
Aden Bouchard/ #10, Tri-City Americans
Ht. 6’0” Wt. 187
Shoots: L
Pos: D
Much like his numerical counterpart that I wrote about recently, Aden Bouchard is a difficult player to read accurately. The potential is there; he possesses the size and frame to play at the next level, but there isn’t a whole lot at the moment that shows he’s ready to make that step.
Offensively, Bouchard has been effective but not dominant. He ends up taking a large portion of his shots from the perimeter, but can (and sometimes does) either move in when he has space or, on rare occasions, lead a rush. His release leaves something to be desired, even as a largely defensive-based player. In my viewings, I’ve noticed that he moves around the ice far more than he should while not showing much urgency when he gets caught out of position, which is far more often than I’d imagine is comfortable for a WHL coach.
