Tait is a defenseman whose all-around skills make him a significant presence on the ice. He shows remarkable patience with the puck, allowing him to make smart decisions that lead to smooth breakout passes. His ability to walk the blue line while controlling the puck opens shooting and passing lanes in the offensive zone. With a solid shot he’s not afraid to use, Tait proves to be an offensive threat whenever he has the opportunity. Defensively, Tait excels with his strong stick and solid gap control, effectively pressuring puck carriers and closing off passing lanes to the slot. His instincts and communication skills help him position himself well for outlet passes, relieving pressure and enabling quick transitions for his team.

However, despite his size, he sometimes plays smaller than his stature. To enhance his game, Tait needs to engage more physically, using his size to separate puck carriers rather than relying solely on stick checking. Boston Tait is a good-sized defensive defenseman who uses his frame effectively to win puck battles, establish possession, and protect the puck during transitions. He displays a good first pass, allowing him to move the puck efficiently out of the defensive zone and help initiate the attack. Defensively, he does a good job closing the gap early, limiting opponents’ time and space to generate offense.

Tait also brings some offensive ability to his game, possessing a good shot with a nice release. He can get pucks through traffic and toward the net, creating opportunities for rebounds and deflections. His combination of size, defensive awareness, puck protection, and ability to move the puck makes him an intriguing prospect with top-four potential at the professional level.
