2027 NHL Draft Prospect Report – Jamie Glance (RW)

One of my favourite prospects in this year’s draft, Glance is a high-motor, highly competitive winger whose work rate immediately stands out. He never seems to stop grinding away, consistently finishing checks, pursuing loose pucks and making himself involved in the play. He understands when to get pucks deep but also recognizes when he has the space to carry the puck into the offensive zone, something he does with success. Glance also possesses very good hands and strong offensive-zone positioning, allowing him to consistently put himself in areas where he can contribute offensively.
His effort carries over to the defensive side of the puck. Glance hustles on the backcheck, remains engaged in his own zone and uses an active stick effectively to disrupt attacks. He is also stronger than his size might suggest and competes well through contact. His combination of awareness, effort and involvement at both ends makes him a legitimate 200-foot player. There have been plenty of instances where Glance has looked like Saint John’s best player.
One minor consideration with Glance is that he is one of the older first-time eligible prospects in the 2027 class, so his development and production need to be viewed with that context in mind. However, his motor and versatility give him an intriguing NHL projection. If he reaches his potential, he could develop into the type of forward who can be inserted anywhere in an NHL lineup and find a way to contribute, whether alongside skilled players or in a more checking-oriented role. He currently looks like a first-round talent and could push toward becoming a top-20 selection in the 2027 NHL Draft if he continues his strong season.
