2027 NHL Draft Prospect Report – Timothy Kazda (RW)

Timothy Kazda#19 -Guelph Storm (OHL) -Slovakia – RW – 6’1 194lbs Timothy Kazda was one of the previously mentioned 2009s having sluggish starts to their draft years. Some of this may be attributed to this being his debut season in the OHL. Kazda plays a simple type of game, using his superb shot and release to beat goalies clean. Besides his shot, he has the awareness and vision to see the ice at a high level. Another positive part of his game is his want for the puck. He battles hard for it all over the Ice. Near the boards, at the net, anywhere it’s loose, Kazda will be onto it. Though he is not a great straight-line or exceptionally fast skater, he can still make his way over the ice without being a step behind play. In the defensive end, he does seem uninterested at times, leading to some mistakes. If Kazda can continue to move his feet even without the puck, while utilizing his dynamic shot at a higher rate, he will be very successful the rest of the year for the Storm. Kazda rose up the draft boards this spring at the 2026 under-18s. In an event dominated by 2026 draft-eligible players, a 2027 draftee was able to capture the scoring title, MVP trophy, along with a Silver medal on home ice. Only the third medal in tournament history for the Slovaks. Kazda was one of just 27 prospects given an A rating by NHL Central Scouting, marking him as a “1st-round candidate”. Even with the cold start, being a 15-25 th overall selection seems to be inhis future.

Top 20 NHL Draft Rankings

13 – Timothy Kazda

Kazda loves to shoot the puck, possesses a very dangerous one timer, and is a threat at all areas of the ice. He is a good skater, he plays an awkward but efficient style and pace of the game, often doesn’t look like he’s putting in much effort, but ultimately ends up in a perfect spot for a scoring chance.

2027 NHL Draft Rankings: DuPont, Neuenschwander, and Privalov Lead Round 1

12 – Timothy Kazda (6’1″ | 194lbs | F | Guelph Storm | Slovakia)

After earning tournament MVP with 12 points in 7 games, the U18 World Championship sensation comes in at #12 on my list and although I want to put him higher, he’ll need to round out some areas this year in Guelph. Kazda is a prolific scorer featuring one of the best releases in this draft class. He can beat you from any spot on the ice and has good vision and awareness to complement the scoring touch. At 6’1”, he’s not afraid to attack the net and frequently drives into danger areas searching for rebounds. While his top-end speed needs work to help maximize his power-forward style, Kazda has already proven he can dominate his age group; now he’ll need to continue it against OHL competition.
