Scouting Feed

DobberProspectsAugust 2025

As an AHL rookie in 2024-2025 Haight showed he was ready for professional hockey, scoring 19 goals and adding 15 assists for 34 points in 67 games for the Iowa Wild. He saw some time on the powerplay, with seven of his points coming with the man advantage. As with many junior players acclimating to the longer grind of the AHL season, Haight’s production slowed in March and April, with only four points in 17 games.

Alex Wyatt - DobberProspects

His playmaking showed promise, but will need to develop, as he had double the number of secondary assists as primary helpers, and his IPP at even strength and powerplay were both below 62%. Haight is still a young player- and a rookie at this level- so these are not knocks on him, rather just indications of what he will need to work on. Haight projects as more of a two-way middle six player than a top-line offensive option and his first year in the pro ranks gives us some hope that there could be some decent complimentary scoring potential. He is worth a stash in your leagues where there is room.

Nathan Leblanc - DobberProspectsJune 2023

Haight had a very successful 2022-23 season where he not only produced the most points of his OHL career for the Saginaw Spirit but also signed his ELC with the Minnesota Wild. Haight went over point-per-game, posting 51 points in 42 regular season games and adding eight points in 11 playoff games since joining the Saginaw Spirit after getting traded from the Barrie Colts. This new team unlocked some offensive potential, but Haight will need to continue to develop his decision making in the offensive zone if he wants to make the NHL. He is at least two or three years away from being a middle-six energy forward.

Nathan Leblanc - DobberProspectsJanuary 2023

Haight is a recent 2022 NHL draft pick by the Minnesota Wild in the 2nd round, who is having an up-and-down season in the OHL. The 18-year-old center suffered a poor start to the season for the Barrie Colts putting up only three goals and six assists in 20 games, along with a very poor minus-14. This had been a decline compared to his rookie season in the OHL during the 2021-22 season. However, Haight has since been traded to the Saginaw Spirit where he has exploded offensively. On the Spirit, Haight has put up seven goals and 12 assists for a total of 19 points in only 12 games. He has also been performing better on the defensive side of the puck by putting up a plus-7. Haight continues to be a strong prospect in the Wild organization, and his increased confidence since changing teams is a great sign for his future progression to one-day be a contributor at the NHL level.

Nick Richard - DobberProspectsJuly 2022

The Minnesota Wild have selected Haight in the second round of the 2022 NHL Draft, 47th overall.

What is PNHLe?

PNHLe is an offensive stat that is used to project a player’s point potential at the NHL level and is meant to standardize a variety of leagues so that prospects can be compared from one league with another.

PNHLe attempts to equalize all leagues, age and positions so that the offensive potential of a prospect can easily be compared with others, while also projecting future NHL point potential in the prime years of a player.

The problem with NHLe

The premise of the NHLe stat is certainly a great idea. If a player jumps directly from one league to the NHL there should be some precedent set by historical values that would indicate how many points that player should project to having in a full NHL season. However, it always bothered me that NHLe never took into account that younger players in the same league would always have a massive disadvantage compared to those that have more experience and are physically more mature in the same league. NHLe only looks at the present to predict how many points in one league are equated at the NHL level.
