Scouting Feed

Markus R - DobberProspectsFebruary 2026

Myatovic has solidified his role as the Gulls’ versatile energy forward, moving throughout the lineup to complement offensively skilled players by forechecking and winning pucks. His game revolves around his small-area skills and his ability to win battles at a high rate. He isn’t a flashy or high-upside prospect, but I think there is a decent chance he reaches the NHL. If he can improve his skating, it would further increase those odds. He looks like the type of player coaches will love, though he likely won’t provide much value for fantasy managers. Even in banger leagues, I don’t think the checking upside is high enough for him to be a strong asset.

Markus R - DobberProspectsAugust 2025

Myatovic finished the AHL season at a much better pace than he started, earning the trust of the coaching staff with his tenacious, energetic, and selfless play. He ended the year on the top line alongside veterans Ryan Carpenter and Justin Bailey. His relentless forechecking and strong defensive play are traits Anaheim will value, but they do not translate into much fantasy value. Myatovic is expected to spend all of 2025–26 with the Gulls unless injuries force him up to the NHL.

Markus Roach - DobberProspectsFebruary 2025

Myatovic’s transition from the WHL to the AHL was not smooth sailing. After a pointless twelve games last season, it was clear Myatovic needed time to adjust to the speed and play at a higher level. Halfway through the 2024-25 season, he is still adapting, with eight points in 42 games. His draft profile was never that of a player who would score many points, but it’s evident that Myatovic likely needs two-plus seasons in the AHL minimum; he could even see time in Tulsa with the Oilers in the ECHL. With the Duck’s very loaded prospect pool, we are unlikely to see any of Myatovic in the NHL for several seasons. Consider him only in the deepest of leagues at the moment.

Pat Quinn - DobberProspectsJune 2023

Myatovic was selected 33rd overall by the the Anaheim Ducks.

Sebastian High - DobberProspectsJune 2023

Myatovic is an interesting prospect as he played an important role on the WHL champions, the Seattle Thunderbirds, as a complimentary hard-nosed powerforward. His motor is a real strength, he doggedly pursues loose pucks and is a very active defender in his own zone. With the puck on his stick, Myatovic can be quite linear and he does not have the adaptability and dynamism that fellow draft-eligible teammate Gracyn Sawchyn has in spades. His release is a clear strength, however, as it projects as an above-average NHL shot with impressive timing, though he often relies on a bit of space to get it off. Skating and processing speed are likely his biggest weaknesses at the moment and they will need to be worked on to unlock tangible NHL value, but his ability to elevate skilled linemates and do all the dirty work at both ends of the ice gives him upside in a complimentary third-line role with significant development and refinement.

What is PNHLe?

PNHLe is an offensive stat that is used to project a player’s point potential at the NHL level and is meant to standardize a variety of leagues so that prospects can be compared from one league with another.

PNHLe attempts to equalize all leagues, age and positions so that the offensive potential of a prospect can easily be compared with others, while also projecting future NHL point potential in the prime years of a player.

The problem with NHLe

The premise of the NHLe stat is certainly a great idea. If a player jumps directly from one league to the NHL there should be some precedent set by historical values that would indicate how many points that player should project to having in a full NHL season. However, it always bothered me that NHLe never took into account that younger players in the same league would always have a massive disadvantage compared to those that have more experience and are physically more mature in the same league. NHLe only looks at the present to predict how many points in one league are equated at the NHL level.
