Scouting Feed

Victor Nuño - DobberProspectsAugust 2025

Robertsson completed his North American rookie season with the Springfield Thunderbirds, tallying 13 points in 26 AHL games. Prior to arriving in North America, he won an SHL championship with Skellefteå AIK and was later signed to a three‑year entry‑level NHL contract with the St. Louis Blues. While in the SHL, he only scored four points in 27 games, though he did drive play exceptionally well at 55% Corsi. That regressed to 45% in the AHL. A heavy shot specialist and energy winger, Robertsson brings high‑tempo forechecking and smart off‑puck instincts to the Thunderbirds lineup. His AHL performance shows promise, and with continued physical adaptation and scoring consistency, he projects as a middle-six NHL winger in the next couple of seasons.

Cédrick Blais-Turcotte - DobberProspectsSeptember 2023

Robertsson performed exceptionally in the first two games of the season despite limited ice time. He had five shots on goal combined, and he managed to finish both games with a CF% higher than 57. If he can maintain that over a larger sample, his stock will increase.

Cedrick Blais-Turcotte - DobberProspectsJuly 2023

Despite playing at least one game in five different leagues last season. Robertsson saw his production increase in 32 fewer games in the SHL, as he posted seven points in 16 games versus six points in 48 games previously. For the sake of his Development, let’s hope Robertsson can have more stability in his team and can develop real chemistry with his linemates this season.

Gordon Munro - DobberProspectsMay 2022

After being drafted in the early third round at last year’s draft, it felt like the Blues got a steal in Simon Robertsson. He was ranked from the mid-first round to early second by most scouting services, including 18th here at Dobber Prospects. However, his D+1 season didn’t go as most would have hoped — he split the season playing 48 games for the Swedish Hockey League’s Skellefteå AIK and 21 games for their junior league club. He also played sparingly in the post-season for Skellefteå, registering one assist. Although his numbers aren’t eye-popping when he played in the SHL (five goals, one assist for six points) it’s important to factor in his ice-time. Robertsson only surpassed 10 minutes of TOI in nine games, playing at most 11:54 on one occasion. However, at the Junior league level he continued to dominate as he did last year, scoring 14 goals and 9 assists for 23 points. Turning 19 this past February, the journey for Robertsson is far from over and Blues fans shouldn’t get too down on his progression. He’s locked up until 2024, showing that Skellefteå believes in his talents and likely has a plan for him. For the player’s sake, hopefully that means an increase in ice-time starting next season.

Nick Richard - DobberProspectsJuly 2021

The St. Louis Blues traded up to select Robertsson in the third round, 71st overall in the 2021 NHL Draft.

What is PNHLe?

PNHLe is an offensive stat that is used to project a player’s point potential at the NHL level and is meant to standardize a variety of leagues so that prospects can be compared from one league with another.

PNHLe attempts to equalize all leagues, age and positions so that the offensive potential of a prospect can easily be compared with others, while also projecting future NHL point potential in the prime years of a player.

The problem with NHLe

The premise of the NHLe stat is certainly a great idea. If a player jumps directly from one league to the NHL there should be some precedent set by historical values that would indicate how many points that player should project to having in a full NHL season. However, it always bothered me that NHLe never took into account that younger players in the same league would always have a massive disadvantage compared to those that have more experience and are physically more mature in the same league. NHLe only looks at the present to predict how many points in one league are equated at the NHL level.
