Projected potential

Bio

A good sized goalie who has had success at the lower Russian levels. Will need to translate that success to the KHL level to be viewed as a potential fantasy asset.

PNHLe

PNHLe data is not available for this prospect yet.

What is PNHLe?

PNHLe is an offensive stat that is used to project a player’s point potential at the NHL level and is meant to standardize a variety of leagues so that prospects can be compared from one league with another.

PNHLe attempts to equalize all leagues, age and positions so that the offensive potential of a prospect can easily be compared with others, while also projecting future NHL point potential in the prime years of a player.

The problem with NHLe

The premise of the NHLe stat is certainly a great idea. If a player jumps directly from one league to the NHL there should be some precedent set by historical values that would indicate how many points that player should project to having in a full NHL season. However, it always bothered me that NHLe never took into account that younger players in the same league would always have a massive disadvantage compared to those that have more experience and are physically more mature in the same league. NHLe only looks at the present to predict how many points in one league are equated at the NHL level.

NHL Certainty
5.0
50% odds
Odds of becoming a full-time NHL player (10.0 = 100%). Draft guideline is a starting point and should rise as the prospect proves himself.
Upside
7.5

Best-case offensive upside (peak season points potential). Forwards: 8.0 ≈ 80 points. Defense and goalie scales differ.

Scouting Feed

Vyazovoy finished the season incredibly strong, with a 14-7-1 record, and 1.80/.938% stat line, playing better as the season progressed. He sat second in goals against average and tops in save percentage. He remains unsigned by Seattle, at it remains to be seen if or when he will make the trip across the ocean to join Coachella Valley or Seattle. He is only 22, and there is plenty of time for that to work itself out, but he would remain a speculative stash at this point.

Vyazovoy continues to gain steam in the KHL, sporting a 1.87 GAA and .933 SV% across 20 games played. Those numbers put him third and fourth respectively among KHL netminders. Vyazovoy remains a relative unknown as far as NHL potential stands, given that he currently is unsigned by Seattle. He is certainly deserving of a speculative investment in deeper leagues that would allow a manager to stash him even if he doesn’t come to North America.

Vyazovoy had some excellent numbers in the MHL and VHL over the past few years, completing the 2023-24 season with a line of 20-13-4 with a 2.54 and .929 in 37 games for his VHL club. He is starting the 2024-25 season with Salavat Yulaev Ufa in the KHL, where in minimal action, he hasn’t yet replicated his lower level success. Keep an eye on him to see if he finds his footing.

Vyazovoy continues his strong play across the MHL and VHL this season. He has a 2.14 GAA and .943 save percentage in Russia’s MHL, and has seen seven games at the next level up- the VHL- with a 2.14 GAA and .920. If longshot goalies hold value in your deep dynasty, he’s worth stashing and paying attention to his potential to come to North America, because despite the renaissance Martin Jones is having in the Seattle crease this year, the Kraken’s net is wide open for someone to claim the full time job. Just be prepared to hold him a long while as you wait.
