Dagenais is one of the most intriguing prospects of the 2026 class. He is a former 1st overall pick in the QMJHL and the son of former NHLer Pierre Dagenais. Standing at 6-4 and 196lbs, Dagenais is a physical beast, and it can best be seen in his reverse hits. While he still needs to work on when he decides to throw a massive reverse hit, as at times it results in him flattening somebody, but at the cost of losing possession to one of the other opponents, when he properly elects to throw a reverse hit, it is a work of art. Dagenais’ offensive skillset and size project him as a player to get NHL games at the very least. With the puck on his stick, Dagenais can wow you with highlight reel moves to get into dangerous areas where he releases his high-end shot. However, these types of plays do not show up consistently within Dagenais’ game, and there are lengthy stretches where he can disappear. However, the teenager has improved a ton this year, especially in his competitiveness, and he has taken steps that should make him a first-round pick. The biggest gripe with Dagenais is his hockey IQ. Too often does he play selfishly, and he overlooks excellent opportunities to put his team in an advantageous situation for a home run swing, which sometimes works at the QMJHL level but in all likelihood would not work at the NHL level. Based on size and skill, Dagenais is going to have lots of opportunities in the NHL, and if he can put it together, he could be a physically dominant top-six centerman.
