Forslund spent most of 2024 with Mora IK’s J20 team after transitioning from the third tier of men’s hockey in Sweden. In 44 games, he had nine goals and 14 assists, with most of his points coming in the second half of the season. This led to him getting promoted to the big club more than once down the stretch. Like many power forward prospects, his scoring and physical play stand out, but his mobility and consistency are the primary areas of improvement. He is still eligible for the J20 team again next season, but if he can show progress and make an impact in HockeyAllsvenskan, he might make the transition over to the AHL in the next few years.

Forslund was selected 176th overall by the Detroit Red Wings.

He’s one of the most under-the-radar players in his class and will be playing with a top club in Sweden next year for the first time. Having worked his way up to the third-tier men’s league in Sweden, he not only held his own but thrived, scoring at a point-per-game pace. His shot in motion is a weapon seasoned men’s goaltenders struggled to stop, even when they saw it coming. A true 6-2 power forward, he leverages every inch to dominate on the ice.
